My target audience will be aimed at
16-25 year old young adults who are in the transition stage in terms of
maturity and growth. This key age range is a very influence generation, who are
easily effected by media sources such as magazines, music, television, radio
and social media. By targeting this specific age range, it allows me to broaden
my ability to create something fun and effective as well as being able target
specific issues within society. Research can easily be carried out as I,
myself, am a current sixth form student who is in the process of the transition
stage of college to university. With my target audience being within the sixth
for it makes it easier to carry out suffienct research which will enable me to
direct and produce the best magazine possible, reflecting both the wants of the
target audience and the conventions shown within a hip hop magazine.
In terms of research is hope to carry
out focus groups, allowing me to gain a general concentrated understanding of
what my target audience look for within a hip hop magazine. I also hope to
conduct interviews which will enable me to ask specific questions and get the
consumers of magazines perspective of their understanding of music magazines
and what they would like to read. These forms of research methods are formally
known as Qualitative research.
In regards to getting numerical
figures a few methods that can be done could be surveys and questionnaires.
This can make my research detailed in terms of gaining general information. By
using these forms of gaining information I can develop an understanding of
preference and relevance from my target audience for example whether they
prefer to see red or white on a master-head. These forms of research methods
can be identified as Quantitative research.
